HELPING YOU RECONNECT WITH YOUR BODY AFTER PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH
My Postnatal Pilates classes focus on supporting the body’s restoration after childbirth, improving core function and helping you feel connected and in control of your body. There is no one-size fits all when it comes to postnatal recovery, and I aim to work with each person as an individual to help you work in a way that is most appropriate for you, your body and your goals.
As a member of the Guild of Pregnancy and Postnatal Exercise Instructors, I am committed to delivering high standards in supporting pregnant and postnatal women and regularly updating my knowledge. I am a certified Pre and Postnatal Pilates Specialist, and hold the level 3 award in adapting exercise for pregnant & postnatal women. I am also a certified teacher of The Center Method for Diastasis Recti Recovery.
In class we focus particularly on restorative movement to support the pelvic floor, abdominals, and pelvic alignment. I take individual needs and goals of my class members into account when planning each session to help you get the most out of the class for your needs. The class is relaxed and you are welcome to ask questions along the way and tend to your baby as needed. Group classes are a lovely way to meet other new Mums and share stories, advice and questions.
Class numbers are kept small so that each person receives a good level of support.
How it works:
Postnatal Pilates is booked in blocks of 6 weeks/sessions. This provides you with consistent weekly practice, and helps me manage what is often a very busy waiting list. Each block is made available to existing postnatal Pilates class members first for priority booking so that you can stay in the postnatal class for as long as you wish. Four weeks in advance of the next block starting, any remaining spaces will be offered to my waiting list and then onto general release.
Each block is a set price of £50. This is priced to reflect the 6 week commitment and no discounts/refunds or tag ons will be offered if you miss a session within the block. However you may be offered the ability to "catch up" a missed session by attending an evening class or online session instead, subject to availability.
New starters joining the class are required to have an introductory postnatal consultation session with me in advance of their first class. During this session we will discuss your labour and postnatal recovery, identifying any particular areas to focus on in class. This consultation session means that you receive guidance relevant to your own body's postnatal recovery (every body is different!) and means I can tailor my classes to meet the needs of those attending each block. The consultation session is held via Zoom. A hands on diastasis recti check will be done at your first class. You will also receive access to a series of supplementary information videos to support you as you return to physical activity after childbirth as part of your introductory consultation package.
